Week9 Studio Task

re-envision the Vitra Design Museum. Think about a new site context in which your building will exist, changes to the structure, scale materiality, and function.
Write to your blog 150 words describing and expressing your ideas and intended direction for the re-inventing of this building.
You can start collecting images and examples of the types of modifications that you intend to enact on the building, including site examples, architectural precedents, structural details, materials and functions.

Re-inventing the Vitra
Site context - Suburban shopping centre eg Double Bay.
Function - Small Shopping Centre
Scale - Make it a little larger with shops around the perimeter and a central food court.
Materiality - The tops of each of the projections from the roof will become glass and provide light to the shops and centre.
The building will spark interest and attract attention to the shops. This will increase demand for the shops, driving up rent, providing a competitive environment and enough funds to maintain and constantly improve the building.
Re-inventing the Vitra (2)
Site context - Busy City/CBD
Function -Office building with foyer and public area at base
Scale - The entire building will be scaled up and each of the shapes on the roof will be extruded to create office spaces.
Materiality - The base will remain quite heavy and the offices will appear lighter.
